Odds are, you are hiding.  You don’t share your dreams. You have lots of “logical reasons” to not share them.

Every person has a dream inside of them.  You have big dreams that deep down, you truly desire. If you are not living those dreams now, you are hiding.

Come on…tell me…you can tell me…what is your dream?

This blog is designed to bust open all the reasons why I, or why we, do not pursue our dreams, and instead, hide.  We know we are capable of pursuing our dreams, but to live our dreams, we must overcome the hidden roadblocks. To finally live your dreams, you must come face-to-face with all of the reasons why you DON’T articulate your dreams, share your dreams, or make your dreams come true.

So, let’s discover the reasons that we tell ourselves to not pursue our dreams.

Reason #1 Sharing Our Dreams Means We Have to Commit to it!

Sharing our dream would mean that we must commit to it…it is now go time. Once you share your dreams, not only do you have to commit to pursuing your dream, you have to commit to being that person, you know that person who makes their dreams a reality?!?

Are you willing to go out in the world and be that person?  Unfortunately, most of the time, we are not.

Sharing and committing to your dream is a vulnerable move. It puts us in a place where we realize we will have to change our life.

The first step to achieving your dreams is to embrace vulnerability. Embrace the fact that you are willing to be that rare individual, who sticks his or her hand up, and declares to the world, I am different, I don’t accept what life has dealt me, and I am going to create something that is breathtaking, meaningful, and strange.

That act of vulnerability is the most powerful step you can take to live a life that you are passionate about.

Reason #2 Some People Might Not Like My Dream

Rejection sucks. Some of us don’t share our dream because we’re afraid that people won’t like our dreams. When I had the dream of performing improv live on stage, the person I was with at the time, didn’t like it. There may be people who won’t accept you or your dreams.  I say, use this information as an important indicator of who you want to hang out with. Sharing your dreams is a great way to find the people that really are committed to you living a happy and fulfilled life.

Reason #3 Some People Might Love My Dream

If people love the dreams that we share, then it’s REALLY SCARY. Yeah, you would have to actually complete it.

Think about it, if you are living a life that is average or just above average, do you have anyone cheering you on for that?  If you do, tell them, they’re fired.

When you thrust yourself into pursuing your dreams and you find one crazy, energetic person who is supporting your dreams, you are going to find more and more people who will support you!   Now those are the cheerleaders I want to have in my life!

Reason #4 They Might Tell You, “You Can’t Do It.”

What if you share your dream with someone and they tell you, you can’t do it? If you’re anything like me, when someone tells me that you can’t do something, I’m going for it! Not only am I going to do it, but it’s also going to be incredible.

In fact, if you are not doing something right now, where someone isn’t telling you, you can’t do it, it’s time to really look at what you are doing with your life.

Let’s be honest, you are only living a life of your dreams when people disagree with you, tell you that you can’t do it, and call you a bit crazy.

I say, go after something that will cause others to be surprised, uneasy, and maybe a bit jealous.

Reason #5 They Might Tell You “You Can Do It!”

What if you share your dreams and they tell you that you CAN do it? Then, you think, “well, maybe I should have pursued this dream already.” This may lead you to feel regret. This may make you think, well it’s too late.  If this turns out right, I might feel this great sense of loss of missed opportunities.

I say, if you are going to feel regret, then following your dream is exactly what you must do now!   Better to feel regret today, when you can change something, then feel regret in your 80s and 90s when it is all too late.

Reason #6 You Will Now Have to be Someone Different

When you achieve your dreams, you will most likely be someone who feels accomplished, confident, a leader, powerful.  Well, many of us can’t handle being someone different from who we know ourselves to be.  There is greater responsibility of playing a bigger game.  People will notice you.  People will ask things from you.  People will hold you in higher esteem.  You might not want that.  This is called making your “puny little self” more important than accomplishing the dream you were put on this planet to deliver to the world.

Sounds crazy?  Yeah, some of us will do anything to not fulfill our destiny.

Awhile back, I found an easy to use stress relief system, called EFT tapping. I used this to help someone who had lost their spouse tragically two years prior, over Yahoo Chat. In forty minutes, he went from feeling stuck in life, a ten on the pain scale, to a 1, and was able to finally move forward. These were dramatic results, and I wanted to share this with small groups to help relieve stress, which is the common cause of over 80 percent of our diseases today. Relieve the stress, and you come up with more creative solutions, less sick days, and more productivity from your employees. In groups, 80 plus percent of the people present are calmer in 7-15 minutes.
To live my dream, I need a stage, or space, people to work with, a place for growth.
